More Detour Salon Hair Tips

For Long Hair -
     - If you have long hair, don't brush your hair when it is wet.  Wet hair stretches and if you pull it past it's limit, it will break.  Use a great professional conditioner and gently comb your hair with a wide tooth comb.  Brush only when dry.

-If you would like to grow your hair long, we can help.   By coming in for micro-trims and or split-end trims, you can keep it looking healthy and it will actually seem to grow faster.  About every 2 months is perfect.

Choosing the Right Style -
     - Whether you have curly hair, straight hair, thick or thin hair there is a style out there to fit your need.  When looking for a new style keep in mind the length, condition, and type of hair that you have.

     - There are many styles to suit any hair type.  When looking through pictures try to choose a picture of a person with hair that is similar in texture to yours.

-Also keep in mind that certain styles look better on different face shapes.  There are four basic facial shapes: heart shape, oval shape, square shape, and round.  Try to  figure out what your face shape is and look for people with a similar face shape and a style you like.

Bang Types -
Square: Make sure your bangs are longer at the sides for a rounding effect or asymmetric to soften any angular lines.

Oblong: Reduce forehead depth with a soft bang. Asymmetrical shapes will widen the face but avoid a prominent parting.

Oval: You are lucky if you own this one as it is considered to be the ideal model shape and suits any style. When dealing with the facial shapes, your hairdresser is aming to create the illusion of an oval face through the line and balance of a cut.

Heart-Shaped: A wispy bang will conceal a wide forehead and bring it into proportion with a fine chin. Forget flat, pageboy bangs which level out the fullness and height.

Triangular: Heavily textured, full bangs will perfectly balance an angular jawline.

Round: Try to avoid any type of bang, expecially an over-wide blunt one, as this will accentuate the roundness of the face. Instead, wear it swept back with height and volume on top to make your face appear smaller.
