Examples of Maya’s talent have appeared in too many magazines to mention and her work is all over the country on TV and film. When she is not a star herself at Detour, you can catch her back stage working with celebrities or applying make-up touches to the stars of MTV. Maya is also very careful to consider the hair’s integrity each time she applies color. As a corrective hair color specialist, she treats each person with respect, kindness and professional understanding during the long process it sometimes takes to achieve desired results.
Kirk- - Stylist/Colorist
Kirk is simply a gem! He is also our busiest stylist, working full time with an assistant. If you wish to book with Kirk, be prepared to wait weeks to get an appointment. Kirk comes from Iowa with strong mid-western values and kindness and he is so pleasant his clients relax immediately in his care. He is detail oriented, focused, honest and so eager to please. His confidence is never assuming and everyone leaves his chair 100% satisfied. Kirk absolutely loves color. He always has a new photo showing the latest looks in hair color fashion and will toss you a big smile right after you say "sure, why not!" Unlike some of us from the beach, Kirk appreciates seasons and seasonal changes in wardrobe, style and hair color.

Natasha is one of those rare hair designers who appreciates hairdressing and is not afraid to have fun. She is intelligent and a quick study. We adore her ability to cut and design hair without a lot of fuss. Her strongest talent is her beautiful up-dos, bridal design and trendy men’s haircuts. Any woman who has a chance to wear one of her special designs will never forget its beauty and balance. Men and women both appreciate her calm professional approach. Natasha is beautiful and for those wishing to become a bleach blonde, Natasha is the choice since her own beautiful lightened locks reach way down her back.

Jennifer- Stylist/Colorist/Bridal Hair Specialist
Jen arrived from Chicago with enduring charm and unrivaled professionalism. Jen has an intuitive nature that makes her strive for excellence in everything she does. Her cutting and hair coloring skills are balanced and she executes each perfectly. Jen ranks number one at Detour in the importance of teaching her customers how to take care of their hair and maintain the look they desire at home. This is what sets her apart from all others. If you wish to have your hair styled for a formal affair or for a wedding, Jen will create a custom style that anyone would expect to see on the cover of a high-fashion magazine.

Jayson- Advanced Apprentice Stylist
From the beginning of his training at 2nd St., our other location, Jayson picked up hair cutting with no visible effort. Assisting the best on staff, Jayson’s talent was going to waste as an assistant. In 2003, we offered Jayson a stylist position at Detour, where he has firmly held his own. As a former Marine, Jayson’s mannerisms are professional. He is thorough and meticulous about his every step. Since apprentice prices are set slightly lower, Jayson is an excellent choice for the budget-minded client who likes to grow with a stylist and who appreciates raw talent.

Shannon - Colorist and Corrective Colorist
Shannon is our go-getter and as a professional triathelete, she is as driven toward excellence as a hair colorist as she is on the road. No challenge seems to daunt her. If anything, she thrives on fixing even the most difficult and complicated hair color problems. Other stylists know that Shannon is the one to turn to when all else seems impossible. As far as creativity, Shannon can translate a simple head of hair into an almost lyrical blend of color combinations using the quality of the hair, skin tones and hair movement. If you wish to just let it happen, then Shannon is the colorist of choice, and when no one else will touch your hair, book a consult with Shannon.

Dorene spent time as a stylist in Hawaii. We are convinced the fragrance of the Hawaiian culture never left Dorene. She is as alluring and fresh as an island experience. Her confidence and ability to create beautiful haircuts and incredible coloring without hesitation or effort immediately charmed us. This is the sign of a very good stylist. Anyone sitting in Dorene’s chair will leave surprised at how comfortable they were after meeting her just once. Dorene is dynamic, upbeat and hip. Her youthful vigor makes her the perfect stylist for the younger set.

Lindsay- Apprentice Stylist
Some people say angels don’t exist, but then again, they’ve never met Lindsay. She is smart, wise, hardworking and talented, but above all else, Lindsay is the sweetest and most pleasant natured young woman anyone would ever hope to meet. Our apprenticeship program allows young stylists the opportunity to work in a salon rather than going to a traditional beauty school. This allows the salon the pleasure of molding and directing fresh talent in a way that best suits our style. However, Lindsay raised the bar and for all future apprentices. She has shown us what a dedicated and talented spirit like hers is capable of accomplishing in such a short period of time. There is no doubt in our minds that in record time Lindsay will fly to the top and never look back.
