Tiffany

What is your inspiration for doing hair?
I knew that hair was something I always wanted to do. My entire life I loved playing with hair, and I feel like it was just a large part of me, so I decided that I wanted to do it professionally, and help other people love hair as much as I do.

Jaclene

Hair Stylist.Encinitas
At Detour since 2014

What is your favorite service to perform?
Balayage is hands down my favorite service. It's the most artistic and the most fun to do, because I get to paint my client's hair and blend the colors together to make it look just right.

What is your inspiration for doing hair?
I am a cancer survivor, so my inspiration came from my hairdresser. She made me look beautiful when I got my hair back, and made me realize that I wanted to do the same for other people and make others feel good about themselves too.

Whitney

I love to do highlights, because they provide a certain challenge and are hard to nail down just right, especially for blondes.

What is your inspiration for doing hair?
I love to use my hands, and doing hair lets me do just that! I get to be creative, since styling hair is just like art, and it is very fun.

Matt

Salon Coordinator--Future Stylist
At Detour since August 2015. To me, creating great customer service by greeting customers into Detour, letting them know about our business and promotions and helping them choose the right looks is the best part of my job.

Knowing the owners Kirk and Jarrod and seeing their passion for the beauty industry is what inspired me to follow my heart and go to cosmetology school. Their drive for success and keen sense of detail is infectious and makes me better at hair, customer service and co-worker.

Kelsey

Hair Stylist.Encinitas
At Detour since 2011

What is your favorite service to perform?
I love to do highlights in different ways. Being able to do both super blonde and subtle highlights takes skill, and is very fun to do.

What is your inspiration for doing hair?
I think that doing hair is very creative, and I like giving a different look to each person according their personality and lifestyle.

Joshua

Hair Stylist, Encinitas
At Detour since 2015, my favorite service to perform would have to be blow dry styles. I feel tat a blow dry can make or break any service that you perform. It can make a not-so-great cut look fantastic. As well, a great cut can look mediocre with a not-so-good bow dry.

My inspiration for doing hair is the joy of meeting new people and the freedom to be creative. Throughout history, hair has been a key of expression; it's been a statement of class and royalty. The art of hair has been around long before the elegant hair of queen Cleopatra and will remain around long after any Jennifer Anniston trend!

Wesley

Hair Stylist.Encinitas//Hillcrest
At Detour since 2014

What is your favorite service to perform?
I like men's cuts the best because it is a challenge to be creative with a limited number of styles that most people think of.

What is your inspiration for doing hair?
Simply, doing hair is something that I've just always wanted to do. Now that I am a stylist, I love working with people and letting them express themselves, and I get to be the one to help them achieve that.

Lana

Hair Stylist, Encinitas
Stylist since 2015. My favorite services are soft, natural, sun-kissed highlights and tones that look lived in--with a beachy downtown texture. My inspiration for hair is the beach and the laid back vibe of Encinitas. I like the idea of working with the hair's natural fall and texture and creating effortless styles that reflect the culture of a beach town.

Michelle

Tim

At Detour since 2014

What is your favorite service to perform?
I love to brighten people's day through highlighting. Getting the right kind of highlights can completely change the way a person looks and feels.

What is your inspiration for doing hair?
My main goal is to make people feel more than good, but make them feel great. After my time with my clients, I enjoy seeing them look and feel so much better than they did when they walked in.

Gabi

Assistant Stylist, Encinitas
At Detour since May 2015. My favorite services to perform are highlighting and men's hair cuts. Highlighting allows me to be creative with placement and brightens up the look. I like men's hair cuts because the end result is so fresh and clean from where we started.

My inspiration comes from the way my guests feel when they walk out the door. Nothing feels better than a fresh look and I love to give that to people!
